CELEBRATIONS OF HISTORICAL RECREATION

Altering the watch of time, moving back and penetrating into ancient times is a thrilling adventure that allows us to discover how the Iberians, the Romans, the Saracens, the Jewish and the Christians lived. For this reason several towns and villages of Terres de l'Ebre remember their splendorous past with the celebration of epoch markets and celebrations of historical recreation.
The Festa del Renaixement (Renaissance Festival) in Tortosa -declared Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional (National Touristic Interest Festival) and Festa Local de Interès Turístic de Catalunya (Local Touristic Interest Festival Catalonia)-, the Moorish Móra in Móra d'Ebre, the Iberian market in Alcanar and the medieval markets in Ulldecona and Batea, transport visitors back to ancient times. These celebrations attract thousands of tourists every year and, moreover, are a fantastic stimulus for social and cultural activity, since they have become the centre from which a great part of the associative tissue of these regions of the South of Catalonia is articulated. To know and promote history. This is the goal of the Festivals of historical recreation celebrated in several towns and villages in Terres de l'Ebre. During some days, the streets, the squares, and the most representative buildings of places like Tortosa, Miravet or Móra d'Ebre fill with theatrical and musical performances that move us back in time. These festivals include a great variety of ludic and cultural activities, for old and young people, which allow them to get to know the particularities of Renaissance Tortosa, the process of the conquest of the Miravet Castle or the daily life of the Arabs, who in the 9th century lived in Móra d'Ebre.
