MUSEUMS AND INTERPRETATION CENTRES MUSEUMS AND INTERPRETATION CENTRES MUSEUMS AND INTERPRETATION CENTRES

The aim of the numerous museums and interpretation centres throughout the four regions of the Ebre is to introduce visitors to the traditions, culture, architectural heritage and history of Terres de l’Ebre. The Museu del Montsià (Montsià Museum), covering the whole region, is a reference centre with examples of archaeology, history and the natural environment. These regions also offer exhibition and information centres on Els Ports mountain range and the Ebre Delta, prehistoric and Iberian heritage, religious art, the Civil War and distinguished figures related to the area, like the painter Pablo Picasso. A visit to these centres will definitely enrich your stay in Terres de l’Ebre.
Interpretation centres
INTERPRETATION CENTRES The aim of interpretation centres is to inform visitors about the cultural, historical and artistic elements which are present in many towns in Terres de l’Ebre. For example, in Ulldecona you can see cave paintings at the Pietat Hermitage and the legacy left by Iberians in Tivissa. For those interested in contemporary history, there are different interpretation centres covering the Ebre Battle and the Spanish Civil War in villages like Gandesa, Pinell de Brai and Corbera d’Ebre. If you prefer to understand Delta traditions better, then the Barraques Interpretation Centre in Sant Jaume d'Enveja will inform you of the main features of popular architecture in the marshes at the river estuary. These are just a few examples of what you can find at the different interpretation centres in some of the villages in Terres de l’Ebre.
Museums
MUSEUMS Museums display a great example of the cultural and patrimonial legacy belonging to Terres de l’Ebre. There is a wide variety of centres to choose from, where you can delight in all the details of art history from these regions located in the south of Catalonia. We can find places dedicated to art, archaeology or nature parks, such as Montsià Museum in Amposta. Other museums show how distinguished figures were influenced by the area, like the Home Museum of Enric d'Ossó in Vinebre or the Picasso Museum in Horta de Sant Joan, where you can see reproductions of the work which the artist painted during his stay at the village. Furthermore, there are museums dedicated to different craft techniques like the Popular Ceramics Museum in L'Ametlla de Mar, or others exhibiting religious artworks like the sculptures in Prince's Gardens or the Cathedral Museum in Tortosa.
