HISTORICAL AND MONUMENTAL HERITAGE, Iberian villages
There are a number of remains from the Iberian era in Terres de l'Ebre. The Ilercavons – the name given to Iberians from Ebre valley – lived from agriculture, animal farming and mining, and near the Ebre, in the south of Catalonia there is a network of small walled sites. The buildings were very solid structures, reinforced by bastions and towers, which have been extremely well preserved to date. In the villages of Castellet de Banyoles, Tivissa, Moleta del Remei in Alcanar, you can see some of the best examples of Iberian culture in Catalonia.
