POPULAR PERFORMANCES
Catalonia and Terres de l’Ebre have preserved a very rich variety of traditional festive displays, often in the form of theatrical performances. There are dialogues – often related to religion – from the sixteenth century, which have been successively renewed, and nowadays can be seen in the form of Passions (The Passion of Christ), like the ones which are celebrated annually in Ulldecona or Vilalba dels Arcs. Some of these performances have been taken much further than their origins to become veritable examples of popular culture. The Little Shepherds by Folch i Torres, which is performed in La Fatarella, or live nativity scenes which are organized in Jesús and La Galera are just an example.
