The performance of the Little Shepherds, is a deeply rooted Christmas tradition in Catalonia. Every year different theatrical groups perform the birth of Jesus, with the arrival of the shepherds and the three Kings from the Orient. Over the years, different popular characters have been added, like the devil. The version which is most often performed nowadays dates back to 1916, and is by Josep Maria Folch i Torres. Over the Christmas period these performances can truly be enjoyed in La Fatarella (Terra Alta).
