It is very popular to celebrate Christmas in Catalonia with live nativity scenes. These performances often take place outdoors in natural areas which make magnificent scenery for simulating the birth of Jesus Christ. Live nativity scenes in Terres de l'Ebre are especially worth seeing in Jesús (Tortosa) and La Galera (Montsià), where all of the houses and buildings are transformed into Christmas scenes.
