Thanks to its variety of landscapes, Terres de l'Ebre offers a large number of alimentary products - from the sea and from the mountain - which are the basis if its tasty traditional cuisine and one of its main touristic attractions. The woods of the Massif of Els Ports, the dry farming plains inland and the Delta orchards have a great deal of products: mushrooms, vegetables, sweet fruits, citrus fruits or the typical rice of the Delta de l'Ebre. All these products are complemented with the tasty fish, the seafood and the scallop food, nourished by the nutrients that the river drops into the sea, caught in harbours and in lagoons. Moreover, many of the products elaborated from these foods have received the "Denominació d'Origen Protegida" (Protected Denomination of Origin) or the "Indicació Geogràfica Protegida" (Protected Geographical Indication), two certificates which recognise the quality of manufactures like rice sausages, olive oil, the wines from the Terra Alta or the varied confectionery from Arab tradition. All these ingredients create a unique and special gastronomy in the whole Catalonia.
