NATURAL AREAS, Mountains and mountain ranges
NATURAL AREAS, MOUNTAINS AND MOUNTAIN RANGES The orography of Terres de l’Ebre is very uneven, especially further inland, where Els Ports massif in the western sector of the regions of Terra Alta, Baix Ebre and Montsià, really stands out. This area was declared a Nature Park in 2001 because of its natural richness and beautiful scenery.

The impressive Serra de Pàndols and Serra de Cavalls in Terra Alta, situated between Pinell de Brai and Gandesa, are where the Catalonian coastal mountains meet the Iberian System. It was here that one of the darkest chapters of the Spanish Civil War took place; the Ebre Battle.

NATURAL AREAS, MOUNTAINS AND MOUNTAIN RANGESOn the other hand, between the north of the Baix Ebre region and south of Ribera d'Ebre, we find Serra de Cardó, which has rugged morphology and is covered with pine, oak and yew trees. And here, for those who enjoy speleology, there are important caves like La Rabosa, Ortigues or Benifallet Caves. A little further north, where the regions of Ribera d'Ebre, Baix Camp and Priorat meet, La Serra de Tivissa and La Serra de Llaberia dominate the horizon.

Finally, in the south of Terres de l’Ebre, we find La Serra del Montsià, which has given its name to the southern most region of Catalonia. It is located parallel to the coast, and at its highest point, reaches almost 700 m. making it a magnificent scenic viewing point, where you can contemplate the beauty of the Ebre Delta from a  bird’s eye view.
