Inland mountain ranges, the Ebre valley and Delta plains offer extremely varied habitats for vegetation. Therefore there is an abundance of different flora in Terres de l’Ebre. In Els Ports Massif and neighbouring mountain ranges there are around 1,000 species of vegetation typical of the climate in the Mediterranean and mountain areas, for example garrigue shrubland and fan palms. There are also holm oak forests, pine groves and in the highest, most humid areas, different kinds of beech trees.
As for fluvial ecosystems, the Natural Area of Sebes must be mentioned. It is located on the left bank of the Ebre River, towards Flix reservoir, where one of the most extensive areas of reed beds in Catalonia has grown. However, the most magnificent flora can be seen on the Ebre Delta: a unique area in Catalonia with innumerable species of vegetation which have adapted to the salinity of the sea. European Marram grass and sea lilies are some of the plants which grow on the dunes covering the beaches at the Delta. And in the riverside forest which grows close to the fresh water of the river, we can see willow, alder, elm and eucalyptus trees.Cal Pino pine tree is located 300 metres from the village of La Palma d'Ebre (Ribera d'Ebre)
