Campaign period
During the campaign period —from l1th April to 31st October— road maintenance, surveillance and assistance for sailing is guaranteed.
Xerta Dam
Xerta Dam is open until 1st November. You can pass through between 10am and 7pm. This service is free. Dam telephone number : 977 47 31 58
Water levels
Sailing will be stopped if the water level is less than 78 m3/s or more than 800 m3/s.
Petrol supply
Institut per al Desenvolupament de les Comarques de l’Ebre (Institute for Development of Ebre Regions) runs a mobile petrol service which supplies fuel to to wharfs in Amposta, Tortosa, Xerta, Móra la Nova and Móra d'Ebre. It is necessary to phone in advance on 977 40 30 55.
You can also use the petrol stations in L'Ampolla (Water Sports Centre) and Amposta, 500 metres from the wharf.
Zebra Mussel Decontamination
The zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) is an invading species which has caused significant environmental problems in recent years as it destroys native eco-systems and obstructs all kinds of water catchment and canalisation infrastructures. To avoid propagation, it is necessary to disinfect all vessels and any other material which has been in contact with the water, both when entering and leaving the river.
Wharfs which have a decontamination service are located in Móra d’Ebre, Móra la Nova, Xerta, Tortosa and Amposta. It is necessary to phone the mobile disinfection service; 977 40 30 55 between 9am and 7pm. The service is completely free.
Control and incidence centres:
The boat maintenance service here has a boat control and tracking centre which is situated in Móra la Nova (Tel. 977 40 30 55). This centre attends to any vessel should there be a breakdown or accident. The service also has two boats which are used for sailing assistance and surveillance, and it covers the whole navegable section daily.
