FISHING

The last section of the Ebre River has calm waters which are rich in nutrients, and that means a great day's fishing. So Riba-roja and Flix reservoirs in Ribera d’Ebre are extremely popular places for lovers of this activity. In fact, Flix is so important that the recreational fishing fair held there biannually, has become a must for discovering what's new in the sector.
The Ebre Delta is also a favourite with lovers of fishing, as this natural area is full of so many different species of fish. Lots of nutrients are brought down by the river, and the mixture of fluvial and maritime waters is perfect for the reproduction of freshwater fish like the Eel, Carp, Common barbel, Catfish and Perch, and also for saltwater fish like the sea bass, and different kinds of Mullet, Sole and Gilthead bream.
Recreational fishing in continental and maritime waters is regulated by the Catalan Governmental Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Action. Permits can be obtained from the Territorial Services Environmental and Housing Department, the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Action and the Catalan Federation of Recreational Fishing and Casting.
