A boat trip to the mouth of the Ebre River is a relaxing adventure, giving visitors an insight to the importance of this wet area, which is the most important in Catalonia and one of the most important of the whole Mediterranean basin. From a boat it is easy to observe the lush riverside forest, the reed beds and the great amount of birds living there, in fact there are more than 350 different species. Different river transport companies located in Amposta, Deltebre, Sant Carles de la Ràpita and l'Ampolla, offer trips to the mouth of the river and along the two bays forming the Delta until it reaches the Mediterranean Sea where fresh and salt waters are mixed together.
