KAYAKING

Discover new scenery by paddling down the Ebre in a kayak. With the calm rhythm of the kayak you can observe the surroundings in absolute peace and quiet, adventure down one of the forks in the river and stop at one of the river beaches or the riverbank forest.
Companies offering guided tours and canoe rentals on the river adapt their boat trips to clients' requirements. Those who prefer to see sections of the river which cross the interior regions of Ribera d'Ebre and Baix Ebre, opt for a trip from Vinebre to Móra la Nova or that which goes from Miravet to Benifallet and takes about three hours. Some attractive features of this wilder, more mountainous area are how narrow the river becomes at El Pas de l'Ase, or the spectacular scenery as the river goes through La Serra de Cardó. Those who are more adventurous choose a longer trip, which passes through Assut dam and ends in Xerta; the dam is a huge barrier which stops the flow of the Ebre River, and crosses it diagonally.
There are two options for those who prefer to travel through more peaceful waters: the first is Flix or Riba-Roja reservoirs, just touching the Aragonese regions of Matarranya and Baix Cinca, and the other is along the lowest stretch of the river near the mouth of the Ebre. The towns of Tortosa and Amposta are located here, as well as the Ebre Delta where it is easy to see lots of different fauna, especially birds. Furthermore, during the last section of this trip you will be able to see some river islands, such as Gràcia, Sant Antoni and Buda islands and also become more familiar with the Ebre estuary.
