CLIMBING

Les Terres de l'Ebre has lots to offer for those who love climbing. Els Ports massif, La Serra del Montsià and La Serra de Llaberia are areas with almost virgin rock faces — mainly craggy limestone — and in recent years many different climbing routes have been created. This is a real paradise for adventurers who want to discover new rocks whilst holding onto a rope.

One of the places with greatest climbing tradition in the Els Ports massif is in the Estrets d’Arnes. We can also find sites to practice this sport in Roques de Benet or in Gúbies del Parrissal. In Serra del Montsià the lowest part of La Foradada stands out for the quality of the rocks there. Other authorised areas for climbing are in the northwest of Ribera d'Ebre: on the overhanging rocks above the town of Tivissa there are sites which complement those to be found near the village of Llaberia.

However, please take into account that in some sectors climbing is forbidden from January to June, during the bird-breeding period. In other sectors, it is necessary to ask for permission at least 5 days in advance. Brochures are available at Els Ports National Park, where all of the regulations are specified.
