Pàndols and Cavalls mountain ranges

Pàndols and Cavalls mountain ranges, are a natural extension of the northern part of Els Ports massif. They have a high geological value beause of the type of formations which have created such impressive landscapes: the strait of Canaletes River in Fontcalda, Navarro Valley, Puig Caballé, la Fou de la Càrgola and l'Agulla de Bot, among others. As far as fauna is concerned, there is the Iberian Ibex, Bonelli's Eagle, the golden eagle, vulture, falcon, Red-billed Chough, otter and wild cat. On a historical and cultural level, there is undeniable interest, given that these mountain ranges saw some of the bloodiest scenes from the Battle of the Ebre during the Civil War. For this reason the Battle of the Ebre Memorial Consortium (Comebe) has created a kind of outdoor Museum in some areas, which have been included in a trail known as the Peace Route.
