Gandesa Grand Annual Festival

The Grand Annual Festival is celebrated in honour of La Mare de Déu de la Fontcalda, and lasts for 5 days.

The Dansada or local Jota dance, important for Catalan folklore, is one activity not to be missed, along with the "Cóssos". Cóssos are popular races that used to be very important locally, due to the rivalry between friends and families or gangs, but are now more to do with sports. Donkey races are also a main attraction, as are the dances and fireworks.

Apart from these activities, there are other important ones during the Annual Festival, such as choosing the Festival Maids, which was first organized in 1964, or the procession of chariots which started in 1969.
