AND CLOSE BY, the Costa Daurada
Beaches, marine tradition, history, gastronomy and family tourism are some of the characteristics which depict the Costa Daurada. This area, in the province of Tarragona, located in the north of Terres de l’Ebre, is one of the main touristic destinations in the Mediterranean region. There are 92 kilometres of coast with fine sandy beaches and shallow waters, and all kinds of services suitable for tourists: quality hotels and restaurants, harbours, golf courses, Port Aventura theme park, adventure sports, funfairs or cultural routes taking in archaeological remains from the Roman period in Tarragona, which have been declared World Heritage Sites.
Moreover, between the sea and the Coastal Catalan mountain range there are extensive areas with peaceful villages, vineyards, olive groves and almond trees. This interior area is easily accessible: you can visit mediaeval and modernist villages like Montblanc and Reus, or some of the most important Catalan monasteries: Poblet –declared a World Heritage Site– and Santes Creus, which are included in the Cister Route. You can also enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains: in Serra de Prades and Serra del Montsant National Park, you will find beautiful landscapes and charming villages where some of the best wines in the world are produced. All in all, this is has to be an ideal combination with the sun, beaches, leisure activities, gastronomy and nature, as well as becoming more familiar with the region.
