THE MEDITERRANEAN TRAIL
THE MEDITERRANEAN TRAIL

The GR-92 is a long trail which crosses the whole of Catalonia from North to South, bordering the Mediterranean coast. It links Portbou in Alt Empordà, to the town of Ulldecona in the Montsià region. The southern part of Pont de l'Olivar bridge (near Ulldecona) is the starting point for this route. The track goes across the town, towards the Montsià mountain range. Then it follows old tracks (used for livestock), past fountains, reservoirs, and olive groves, where little dry-stone shelters can be seen. After going past the Mas del Comú, you arrive at La Foradada viewpoint (650 m. high) where you can enjoy a fantastic view of Els Ports Massif, the Ebre Delta and the coastline. Here the path starts to descend towards Amposta crossing the inland part of the Ebre Delta to the coastal village of L'Ampolla. There, the GR-92 joins the Ronda trail which leads to L'Ametlla de Mar, past coves, beaches and over secluded rocky cliffs.
