ROUTE OF THE IBERIANS
The Iberians in Terres de l’Ebre developed one of the most dynamic societies of their age, and this was thanks to their privileged geographic situation near the Ebre River, which was an essential means of communication between the coast and interior Spain. The Route of the Iberians, promoted by the Catalonia Archaeological Museum, gives you the chance to find out about Iberian archaeological remains which are still preserved in Terres de l'Ebre.
The village of Castellet de Banyoles, in Tivissa, and the village of Moleta del Remei in Alcanar, are perhaps the best examples of Iberian culture in Catalonia, and for this reason, they have become the focal point of the route of the Iberians in Terres de l’Ebre. Both archaeological sites can be visited by the public, and informational panels have been installed telling the true story of each village, and giving some general information on Iberian life.
Other Iberian sites of special interest are Coll del Moro in Gandesa, Castellot de la Roca Roja in Benifallet, and St. Miquel in Vinebre.
