REGIONS
The four most southern regions in Catalonia form the Terres de l'Ebre: Baix Ebre,
Montsià,
Terra Alta and
Ribera d'Ebre, and as the name indicates, they are all to be found along the Ebre River.
The Ribera d'Ebre is the most northern of these regions. To its north, in Tarragona, are the Priorat and Baix Camp regions, as well Segrià and Garrigues (both in Lleida). To the south of Ribera d'Ebre are Terra Alta and Baix Ebre.
Terra Alta, is on the border of the Matarranya region in Aragón.
Baix Ebre, in the south, is the only region which borders on all of the Terres de l'Ebre regions: Terra Alta and Ribera d'Ebre to the north, and Montsià to the south.
Lastly, there is
Montsià which is located in the far south of Catalonia. In the north it borders Baix Ebre and in the south is the Baix Maestrat region, in País Valencià.
The fact that Terres de l'Ebre is on the border, means that social and cultural matters go beyond the Catalan region to reach regions in the north of País Valencià and the south of Aragón, areas which maintain intense cultural and humane exchanges.
