REGIONS, Montsià
Although the interior part of the
Montsià region is in the impressive Els Ports Massif, its relief is dominated by plains: Els Ports mountains, the River Sènia and the Montsià mountain range surround a geographic depression, where dryland farming is predominant. On the eastern side, we find the Delta plain, covered mainly by rice fields, and filling the scenery with different tones of green during the spring, and golden tones in the autumn.
Montsià is situated in the far south of Catalonia, has 65,000 inhabitants and is made up of 12 towns, with Amposta being the capital. In the north it borders Baix Ebre, and on the east is the Mediterranean coast, from the mouth of the Ebre River along Alfacs bay to Sòl-de-Riu beach in Alcanar.
